TRS Summer Wave Party 2025: A Celebration of Talent, Joy, and 24 Years of Excellence!

The event kicked off with the official reporting of kids from each TRS branch/franchise, setting the place for a day filled with pride and unity.

One by one, the teachers represented their respective branches with big smiles while getting feedback from Teacher Ging and Teacher Sofie and the rest of the teachers.

Altogether we continue to help one another.

Showcasing Talent and Team Spirit

What followed was nothing short of spectacular. Each branch took center stage to showcase their skills in dancing and performing – a true testament to the creativity and hard work of both students and teachers.

From high-energy dance numbers to funny musical performances that gained the loudest cheers.

The enthusiasm was contagious as the performances reflected not just talent, but also the spirit of teamwork and confidence.

Honoring Dedication: Teacher Service Awards

One of the most meaningful highlights of the day was the Teacher Awarding Ceremony – where TRS took a moment to honor the incredible dedication of its teaching staff. Teachers who have served TRS for consecutive years were recognized for their unwavering commitment, passion, and positive impact on generations of learners.

From 1 year honorees to those who have spent 4, 9, or more years shaping minds at TRS, the awards were a powerful reminder of the heart and soul behind the academy’s success. Their dedication has helped TRS reach this incredible 24-year milestone.

Of course, what’s a summer party without games and surprises? Everyone came alive with interactive games and challenges that had everyone laughing, bonding, and competing in good spirits.

August has always been a special time in the Philippines — a month where we honor our language, heritage, and culture through Buwan ng Wika. At TRS, this year’s celebration was made even more meaningful with the much-awaited "Laro Tayo: Noon at Ngayon”, part of our beloved Fun Fridays theme book series!

It was a day filled with color, culture, and connection — one that celebrated both the richness of our past and the joyful creativity of our present.

The highlight of the event was the official launch of “Laro Tayo Noon at Ngayon”, a charming and nostalgic book that takes readers on a journey through traditional Filipino games — from piko to tumbang preso — and how these timeless games can still bring joy today.

The book is a tribute to the playful spirit of Filipino childhood and was written and illustrated in collaboration with the TRS team as part of the Fun Fridays creative learning initiative. It reminds young readers of the value of play, teamwork, and Filipino traditions.

To mark the occasion, both teachers and students proudly wore their national costumes, turning the centers into a beautiful sea of barong tagalog, baro’t saya, and traditional wear from different regions of the Philippines. The colorful attires brought our heritage to life.

From the littlest learners to the TRS teachers, everyone came dressed not to impress — but to express pride in being Filipino.

What made the celebration even more exciting were the traditional Filipino games played throughout the day! It was a nostalgic experience for the teachers, and an eye-opening adventure for the kids who got to experience the joy of playing outside — just like in the old days.

It was filled with fun, laughter, learning, and love — a true reflection of what it means to be part of the TRS family.

TRS Celebrates Young Voices in their Integrated Writing Class Recital

A Day of Stories, Sharing, and Pride

TRS held its much-awaited Integrated Writing Class recital last June 21, 2025, turning the classroom into a stage where young writers shared their voices with warmth, courage, and creativity. The event gathered students, parents, and mentors in a heartfelt celebration of storytelling, reflection, and growth.

Each child had the opportunity to read their original pieces aloud, standing proudly on stage in front of an attentive and supportive audience made up of their families and peers

From funny anecdotes to thoughtful reflections and imaginative tales, the variety of topics reflected not just the children’s writing skills, but their evolving perspectives and personalities.

What made the event even more meaningful was the presence and participation of parents, who witnessed firsthand the culmination of their children’s efforts over the course of the class. Laughter, smiles, and even a few tears filled the room as students bravely shared their work — many for the first time in such a public setting.

Teacher Ging delivered a special message highlighting the importance of giving children space to find and use their voices. Teacher Sofie also offered heartfelt remarks, praising the students for their creativity and resilience.

The event ended on a high note, with warm applause and a sense of pride that lingered long after the last story was read. It was a day of celebration — not only of writing, but of community, courage, and the joy of learning together!

Nana Hen Visit

A Clucking Good Storytime with Teacher Ging!

This week at TRS was something truly special! The classroom buzzed with excitement as the beloved Nana Hen from the Easy Peasy Story Book Series came to life—thanks to none other than Teacher Ging herself.

Dressed in her orange costume, cute yellow headband, round glasses, and that unmistakable Nana Hen charm, Teacher Ging transformed into the cozy, storytelling grandma-hen that children have come to adore through the Easy Peasy books. Her arrival brought instant smiles, giggles, and a whole lot of curiosity!

As the children gathered, Teacher Sofie excitedly introduced Nana Hen and the children’s eyes widened with anticipation. Teacher Ging began reading and the kids were completely captivated—surely there were lots of giggles that echoed the whole room.

Each page turned was met with gasps, laughter, and enthusiastic “what happens next?!” questions. Some children even clucked along and tried to finish Nana Hen’s catchphrases before Teacher Ging could.

It wasn’t just about reading. It was about connection. The Easy Peasy books are all about making reading fun and approachable, and Teacher Ging brought that mission to life. Nana Hen isn’t just a character—she’s a friend, a guide, and now, a cherished memory in the hearts of the TRS kids.

Whether it’s through the pages of a book or a real-life visit from Nana Hen, one thing’s for sure: when reading is made magical, children don’t just listen—they learn , laugh , and love every moment.

Art Class at The Reading Station

Creating Colorful Memories, One Brushstroke at a Time.

This summer, The Reading Station was bursting with color, creativity, and joy as Teacher Cathy led her exciting Canvas Painting Art Class ! With blank canvases, vibrant paints, and boundless imagination, young artists turned ordinary afternoons into extraordinary works of art.

Held in the cozy, story-filled space of TRS, children of all ages came together to explore the magic of painting—learning brush techniques, color mixing, and most importantly, how to express their unique ideas on canvas.

From whimsical animals to dreamlike landscapes, each student created their own masterpiece guided by Teacher Cathy’s gentle instruction and heartfelt encouragement. She taught the basics in a way that was fun and easy to follow, while still leaving plenty of room for self-expression.

In every brushstroke, we saw confidence bloom, and in every canvas, a story came to life. Thank you to our young artists for filling TRS with color and joy this summer!

Photoshoot Campaign

The year 2018 has been truly eventful for The Reading Station!

From opening a couple of franchisees and new branches to expanding some of the branches already established, it’s only natural to have a lot of changes done because of it; one of the biggest change for TRS would be the change of pace. For many years, TRS has remained a more humble number, and it is only now that, number-wise, the company has felt a major difference.

With all these expansions, growth, and changes, a lot needs to be done to maintain the quality that TRS boasts and is proud of. After much thinking and much boosting in the social media department, TRS decided to organize a company photoshoot to better meet these high quality demands, especially that social media has become an integral part of society in the present.

Of course, tackling a task is going to be a challenge if it’s one’s first time—this was TRS’ case. The company has never done something close to planning and organizing a photoshoot before, but that did not stop all the staff and the people in charge from making it a possibility! With a lot of meticulous planning, brainstorming, persistent updates between the team and an overall fighting spirit that strives for the best, TRS had to adjust and the company did so by depending on one another to make sure the whole project would be a success.

Throughout the whole project, TRS’s appointed photoshoot team consisted of teachers, managers, managing partners, and marketing—all of which did not have any clue or experience in the field, and with this, a lot of coping and having to learn things on the spot had to be done just to keep getting things smoothly flowing. Fortunately, the team pulled through with having successfully prepared all that needed to be prepared. All that was left was the Big Day a.k.a the Photoshoot Day!

Come morning of the Big Day, a lot of excited and anxious nerves were shared. The team would be meeting a lot of celebrity families (our TRS Celebrities and Influencers!) and handling the whole thing from start to finish, from every set change to every shot. Need we even say that we were absolutely star-struck? Most of the team have only seen the celebrities behind TV screens and only through gadgets that have access online.

It was exhilarating to be able to witness and experience the process of how photoshoots work, and the team was amazed at just how the artists knew what to do, what to say, what comes next and the standard operating procedure for projects like these—even young kids knew what to do and it was as if they were naturals at it!

It was a wonderful and thrilling experience overall that kept getting better and better as each hour passed, and the team could only hope that the joy and fun of it all would be shown in the final shots.

We’d like to thank the families that were so kind to have come and join TRS’ first ever photoshoot campaign: Patrick & Nikka Garcia (with daughter Michelle), LJ Moreno-Alapag (with son Ian and daughter Keona, Rico & Jeck Maierhofer (with son Calel and daughter Harper), Mommy Krystine (for daughter Dani), and Mommy Anne (for daughter Leigh). Without your generosity and heartfelt support, TRS would not have had such a great first campaign.

TEAM Building Seminar

Every year, TRS holds an annual Team Building Seminar, and for this year, it was decided to be held at Caliraya Resort Club, Laguna.

The venue is much known to have quite a number of outdoor activities and attractions (such as rock climbing, zip-line, and canoeing, to name a few), but their signature attraction is their own customized program called the “Amazing Race” that highlights a group activity Mud Slide for a finale! Many different groups coming from various backgrounds flock over to experience this program (be it schools, companies, and others) and it would be great if TRS’s growing community would take part in it, as well.

Penciled in to be held for 1 night and 2 days on October 14 (Sunday) and 15 (Monday), this event garnered a lot of excited and anticipated talk within the company. Surely, majority of TRS couldn’t wait to spend the weekend differently!

Tasked to meet up in between 5:00 am to 5:59 am, the participants were given strict orders to leave at exactly 6:00 am on the dot. The trip going there was pleasant (albeit a little bumpy) and once arriving at the destination, the staff had to take a mini-boat ride to cross the lake and into the actual venue.

The team was then led to the function room that would be used for the whole duration of the team building seminar. Shortly after, Teacher Mary (Northridge branch) commenced the start of the program the way TRS proudly starts any and every program or event: through devotion and prayer. The explanation of rules and general objectives of team building shortly followed afterwards, and then come the games!

The first game was called “Baby Rattle”, in which each team (divided into TRS Branches) nominates a representative to play for them. Each representative would then take turns to shake two makeshift gigantic baby rattles (in this case, two empty 1.5L soda bottles filled half with marbles); the first one to transfer all marbles to the bottom wins.

The next game was called “Separation Anxiety”, a game consisting of segregating multicolored M&Ms to separate cups, each for a singular color. Same rule applies than the former, in which teams appoint a representative for them. Once the games segment was done and that the winners and runner-ups were recorded, it was time for lunch, freshening-up, and settling in our respective rooms. After that would be the official start of the Amazing Race, and everyone was really excited!

Gathering for the assembly and grouping into new teams, a Caliraya staff facilitates the participants into the next activity: Team Chants! Everyone was given time to brainstorm and rehearse morale-boosting cheers to present to everyone else. Each presentation was unique to each team and it was surely an entertaining sight to witness! Once the chants were done, the Amazing Race officially starts.

The race consisted of running around looking for missing pieces of Caliraya’s map, tag-team rock climbing, swinging makeshift seats down an open grassy field, drenching running clothes for relay swimming, going through a mini obstacle course, battling the waters while canoeing, and testing your bravery as well as possible fear of heights through walking a high bridge. All these were not timed, but it was a group effort to try winning that coveted 1st Place title! Tiring as it may have sounded, surely it was fun-filled for all who partook in it.

The rest of the night was scheduled to be calmer, with team bonfires and night swimming. However, plans were set to have changed as it started raining. The managers were quick to make use of the time now free due to the weather conditions, and got to work with coordinating rehearsals and meetings of the following day’s events.

The teams all ended a jam-packed first day through brainstorming creative team chants, all geared up and ready to perform for tomorrow’s chant contest.

Come morning was less activity-filled, but still as fun! Competitive as it may be to win the first place for the chanting contest, the teams were more invested in having fun and just performing their best together. As soon as it has started, the awarding took place shortly and rounds of fun pictures were taken to seal the day certainly one for the books.

The objective of this year’s TRS Team Building Seminar was to strengthen in-branch co-worker relationships, to provide an opportunity for each branch to get to know people they haven’t gotten the chance to meet, and basically bond as one big TRS Family. We can surely say that the objectives were met for it is because of this event that a lot of new friends are made, plenty of already-existing relationships made stronger, and countless of good memories were created. Yay for TRS’ TBS in Caliraya experience!

TRS Northridge Reopening

November has had a lot in store for TRS, and the most awaited reopening of Northridge is one of them!

The construction and overall preparations have had its trials, but overall and in the end, it was a success. The team arranged to have a program with a humble reopening ceremony and celebration, and being spearheaded by TRS’ own Teacher Sofie, it was attended by a select important few, specifically all company-owned branch managers, Teacher Sofie’s family, and a couple of long-time family friends.

The ceremony started with prayers and with blessings, and promptly afterwards, the ribbon was cut by Teacher Sofie and her second-born daughter, Jarynne. TRS Northridge Plaza has officially reopened! The short program shortly followed, with Teacher Sofie giving her touching opening remarks.

TRS Northridge was deemed Teacher Sofie’s “first baby”, for it was TRS’ first branch to have opened besides their main. Teacher Ging had entrusted this branch to Teacher Sofie as her first ever branch to handle, and thus deeming it as her “baby”. Teacher Sofie shared that it was a bit unfortunate that TRS Northridge was the first branch to have opened as an expansion, but it was the last to have renovated and reopened amongst all the other branches that did so, during more fortunate times. Nonetheless, she finds that God’s timing is perfect and that this is the best time to open.

She also shared a quick trivia and parallel that 5 and a half years ago, when TRS Northridge first opened, she already had Jada (firstborn) and she was pregnant with Jarynne (second-born) at that time. Now in present time, as she stood before the attendees of TRS Northridge’s reopening, she now had given birth to Jarynne who’s a few years older, whilst being pregnant again, now with their upcoming third child.

TRS Northridge was first managed by Teacher Zara and now currently by Teacher Mary, whom Teacher Sofie both expressed her thanks and appreciation to. A short blessing and gifting from the rest of the managers soon followed, with each of them gifting tokens as important symbols that every establishment would need and be blessed with.

The reopening was then wrapped up nicely in a simple get-together dinner. More power, blessings, and prayers for TRS Northridge!
